I mentioned a little while ago about the launch of the DOM Scripting Task Force, and they now have started in earnest. They have already created a manifesto, which is excellent, and from the personal websites of several of the members I know they are very enthusiastic about bringing JavaScript use into the 21st century. I wish them all the best, and will be watching the developments with great interest.

For the geek in your life, the ultimate in luxury. I prefer this model, of course, as it’s the biggest. It’s just a pity there’s no dedciated space for a rack of music gear and a mixing desk. Perhaps I’ve found a new business opportunity…

Those of you who know me are aware that music is one of my passions (indeed, the only thing I have any decent qualifications in), so this article caught my eye. In a nutshell the technology allows a new type of plastic to be installed inside a drum shell that then acts as a pickup, in much the same way as a pickup for an electric guitar works.
The advantages are obvious - no more unwieldy mic stands plastered all over a kit, no more bleed from one drum to the next, no more lengthy setup and soundcheck procedure. Apparently they sound great and are easy to use. Not sure what the price is yet, but I’d be very surprised if it’s more than a set of decent drum mics and stands.
So, an excellent use of technology to make music better. The link was gleaned from www.worshipreleased.com.

I have a new mobile phone, a Sony Ericsson K750i. It's very nice, and the fact I got it for free makes it even nicer. So thats … nice.

Recently I’ve been relegated to using a dial-up modem to connect to the internet. There’s not much point in paying a small fortune for broadband when we’ll only be in this house a matter of weeks. However the slowness of dial-up is starting to grate. I must have been spoiled by having broadband for the last 4+ years, and having to click something then wait … and wait … and wait is getting a bit annoying.
But it’s only for a short time, and of course it is teaching me patience. Well, that’s what I keep telling myself, anyway.
