The celebrity website line-up…

Do you wonder what kind of website to have? Spoilt for choice? Well fret no more, as Tim Bednar of Godbit.com has an explanation of the main types of sites. It’s aimed at churches, but could easily give any business large or small an introduction to the wonderful world of the website.

He’s described the different sites like this:

  • The St. Francis: Five pages of simplicity
  • The Elvis Costello: One-percent Flash
  • The Robin Hood: Wisdom of the laity
  • The Holy Grail: The next Billy Graham will be a geek

You’ll have to read the article to find out more!

I’m also working on an article I’m going to call “Flat-Pack Web Design”, which will show another side to this whole which-site-is-for-me question. As ever, watch this space.

New browser windows…

Opening a link in a new browser window (the age-old target=”_blank” thing) is a bad idea. Why?

So, in a nutshell, think Long and Hard before you invoke the dreaded _blank.

The benefit of a good community…

I’ve been quoted on emergingchurch.info regarding the Alternative/Emerging mailing list I subscribe to.

The bit they missed out of what I said was that I like the mailing list because it’s small. I’ve been part of large internet communities, and frankly they leave me cold now. Small is best, I think. Of course, with this additional marketing (this very article being part of that, how ironic) the list might get a lot busier.
