Some things exist. We know they exist, we see them, we can touch them. Other things don’t exist, except in the minds of over-zealous salespeople. Of course, I’m talking but vapourware – software that can be demo’d and sold, but doesn’t actually exist.
But I like it this way; for one thing I know I’m going to be abe to work on something without being broken off every 20 minutes to do some minor adminstration task. And it also gives me the chance to mess about with system architecture, something I’m becoming more and more interested in.
I’ve decided to use the WIMP stack – Windows, IIS, MySQL and PHP. Partly because it fits in best with the infrastructure of the organisation I’m writing this software for, but mainly becase I like the name.
