To my shame I have been one of the many people who have scoffed when hearing about the “water shortage” the UK is currently in. However a trip to Ogden Water near Halifax, a reservoir and nature reserve, showed me how wrong I was. We’ve been several times before, but I was shocked to see the levels of water in the reservoir. Here are two pictures to illustrate the dramatic difference.

Pretty horrifying, yes? SO after al the rain we’ve had (and in Yorkshire it’s been at least as rainy as normal) the water levels are still over 4 metres below where they have been every other time I’ve visited Ogden. A sobering sight, I think you’ll agree.
