Is this a sign that traditional cultures, specifically in this case food, are being eroded by mass-market commercialisation? Or perhaps it’s just a particular recipe that should never have seen the light of day? Either way, it’s surely a sign of the times.

This is what happens when the marketing monkeys are allowed to rule the roost. It makes no sense! Which part of the doughnut is tiramasu? Which part of the tiramasu is doughnut? Should we be saluting the diversity of multicultibritain? Or rushing to the barricades to defend our centuries-old pure-breed culture? Actually I can’t pass judgement here because I used to be a doughnut-purist but since discovering Krispy-Kreme, have become largely ambivalent, in a doughnut sense.
